Both England and Germany depend on confidence in order to win; The second 'goal' might have unnerved Germany, but we were inept in all departments.

Germany win more because they have:
a) Better technique
b) Fewer foreign players in the Bundesliga
c) Players who can understand and apply what their coach tells them
d) they organise to do well in tournaments
e) they play fewer matches in a season.

England lose because:

a) worse technique
b) we value 'do or die' over skill
c) the demands of the Premiership ( aka 'the Greedy League' ) outweigh Tournament performance. Too many matches and too much hype. We have jaded players carrying injuries with no 'team' ethics instilled from school level. Look at the best-performing players in the World Cup so far. How many of them play in the Premiership?

Goal-line technology is a red-herring. We would have lost anyway because English players 'choke' in tournaments. Changing the technology/manager will have NO effect on that. At the end of this tournament Brazil will (probably) win it and then immediately start to plan for winning in 2014.

Rooney will score in his first or second game back in the Premiership and all will be forgotten/forgiven until the next tournament.
